Realism and Quantum PhD studentships at Leeds

The University of Leeds is advertising two (!) PhD Studentships associated with a AHRC-funded project "Scientific Realism and the Quantum".

Needless to say, we are very excited about this 3-year project that aims to bring the scientific realism debate into close contact with (philosophy of) quantum physics. The various project workshops etc. will — we hope — be of interest and value to many of us in the science community and beyond.

As said, there are two PhDs associated with the project:

One is envisaged to work on the relationship between metaphysics and physics in the context of quantum physics;

The other is envisaged to explore issues concerning the nature of modelling, idealisations, and explanation in science, and their epistemological repercussions, in the context of quantum physics.

The studentships offer fantastic opportunities to work as a part of an exciting project that will have a lot going on!
