Yale Summer Institute in Bioethics

Hello!

I work for Yale’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, and we are running an intensive Summer Bioethics Institute in June and July that I was hoping you could tell interested students about. The program is for graduate students, professional students, and select undergrads, covering law, medicine, and the ethics of both, including seminars on topics such as reproductive rights, moral culpability, diversity in medicine, healthcare policy, end-of-life care, military ethics, and more! Would you tell your students about this exciting opportunity? More information is attached.

Thanks!

Frontline Graduate Opportunities for Philosophy Students

Dear Philosophy Students,

I am a student at LSE and a Brandmanager for the charity Frontline, whose mission is to transform the lives of vulnerable children by recruiting and developing graduates to be leaders in social work.

The graduate programme is a fully funded 2 year leadership development programme which trains graduates to be fully qualified social workers working with vulnerable children and families across the UK. You will learn on the job in a local authority, giving you the chance to work directly with vulnerable children and have a positive impact on their lives. No day is the same as a social worker; it’s a high energy career where you will work with families, schools, courts, and the police. If you want an active career instead of sitting behind a desk, this could be you. The course includes a fully funded postgraduate diploma in social work, followed by a fully funded Masters in social work.

Applications are open until 21st November and you can apply via the Frontline website which I will link below.

If you have any further questions please follow and message our facebook page, or visit us at our skills session on 25th October at LSE.

Thanks,

Victoria.

Frontline Brandmanager.

New lecture series on philanthropy and social entrepreneurship

Lecture series on philanthropy and social entrepreneurship

The Marshall Institute invites you on a structured journey through the field of private action for public benefit, guided by leading practitioners and thinkers. Philanthropy and social entrepreneurship are vital, but poorly understood; account for trillions of dollars and affects the lives of millions. The Marshall Institute is committed to improve our understanding of philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.

On 14 November, we begin the 2017 Marshall Institute Lecture Series on Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship. This is a unique learning experience for LSE students, staff and alumni.

Together, we will explore how to start a social enterprise and hear from people who have done so successfully. We will look at altruistic capital and how companies and organisations can develop or deplete the will to do good in their employees. We will debate the power dynamics of philanthropy and what it takes to be an effective philanthropist.
